| Practice | When you speak | What you check |
|---|---|---|
| Shadowing | While following the audio | Can you keep up with the flow of sounds? |
| Repeating | After pausing the audio | Can you reproduce the sentence without reading? |
Start with one short sentence
Listen → pause → say it without looking → listen again
Listen to the end of a sentence, pause, and try to say it without looking at the text. Notice how far you got on your first attempt. After speaking, listen to the same sentence again to catch missing words or changes in their order.
If you can say the first half but lose the second half, divide it at a natural break in meaning instead of repeatedly replaying the whole sentence. Listen to and reproduce the second half, then return to the full sentence. Rehear can return by phrase. If the phrase is too broad, select the difficult passage with an A-B section.
Save only the parts you still cannot say
Once you can pause and reproduce a sentence, move on. Bookmark only a passage you still cannot say so you can return next time. On days when you want to speak along without pausing, try shadowing.
